A cook prepares food at Makanan Panas Tom Yam.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 — Seafood at the Sri Petaling Seafood Village. Food outlets within walking distance of the Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling LRT stations are scarce. It was a challenge but I’m glad to declare that I managed to unearth a few decent options around both stations!
Breakfast choices are limited but the variety increases by lunch time. Here one can tuck into reasonably-priced nasi lemak, local kuih, tom yam and noodles. The open-air car park where Komplex Sukan Negara is has a row of stalls offering drinks and Muslim-friendly economy style rice for lunch and dinner. The set-up is simple but the food is cheap and good.
It is not widely known but the KSN Golf Driving Range is a stone’s throw away from the Bukit Jalil LRT; the Sri Petaling Seafood Village is a hidden culinary gem you’ll find on its grounds. Besides the seafood dishes, loyal patrons also swear by the restaurant’s ginger fried chicken. I ordered a portion of this amazing dish and polished off every piece on my own plus a plate of noodles!

Those who prefer to eat healthy would be pleased to know that Medifoods Lifestyle Café recently opened an outlet here. However the menu isn’t as extensive as its other outlets in the Klang Valley. Also the food is pre-packed as the café doesn’t have a hot kitchen. Rest assured, though, that the food is fresh and reasonably-priced since its customers are primarily students.
At the IMU entrance there is Restoran Jasema, whose patrons were seen tucking into curry-drenched rice with chicken and crispy parathas. Once you exit the university, you will notice many stalls at the junction of Jalan Jalil Perkasa 19 and Jalan Jalil Perkasa 7.

Understandably there are more stalls during the weekday lunch hour than in the evenings since they are reliant on IMU students and surrounding offices for business.
Their opening times can be erratic but one of the few stalls that is always open is Makanan Panas Tom Yam Seafood. According to the owner, the stall has been at the same spot for 10 years.
So there you go, a few options for sustenance in the vicinity of Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling train lines.
