RAPID RAIL DEPLOYS SHUTTLE BUS TO COMPLEMENT KL MONORAIL SERVICES
Sunday, 14 May 2017
KUALA LUMPUR
KUALA LUMPUR, 14 May 2017 – Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail), the operator of the Rapid KL Monorail Line, will deploy shuttle buses during morning and evening peak hours to complement the KL Monorail service from tomorrow (15 May 2017).

“We would deploy shuttle buses at intervals of between 7 and 15 minutes at several busy stations between 7am and 9am, and between 5pm and 7pm,” said Rapid Rail CEO, Dato’ Ir. Zohari Sulaiman.

The shuttle bus services would be deployed at the following stations:

  • Between KL Sentral Monorail Station (in front of Nu Sentral) and the Raja Chulan Monorail Station.
  • Between Chow Kit Monorail Station and Bukit Bintang (in front of Sungei Wang Plaza)
  • Between Hang Tuah Monorail Station (under the Monorail Station, towards Jalan Imbi) and Raja Chulan Monorail Station

“A nominal fare of RM1 would be charged, except at the Hang Tuah integrated station for customers travelling from the Sri Petaling/ Ampang Lines. The fare for these customers would be waived.

“In addition to the shuttle bus services, commuters could also opt for the Go KL free bus services, particularly the Go KL Blue Line, between Chow Kit and Bukit Bintang, and the Go KL Green Line between KLCC and Bukit Nanas.

“We would monitor our customers’ travel patterns and needs and would reorganise the shuttle bus routes, as needed, said Zohari in a media statement issued today.

The shuttle buses are introduced as additional travel options as the KL Monorail Line is operating with only 2-car trains at 8 minutes interval until further notice, following the grounding of the 4-car trains last Friday.

“We have identified several safety-related concerns on the 4-car trains and have demanded Scomi, the train manufacturer, to carry out all safety-critical improvement works and re-certify the rail-worthiness of the 4-car trains.

“This is to ensure the trains are fit for operations and public safety is not compromised.

“We would follow-up closely with Scomi to ensure all safety-critical improvement works are completed before the 4-car trains are returned to revenue service,” said Zohari.

In the meantime, Zohari said more manpower, including auxiliary police and station operations staff, would be deployed at the monorail stations for better crowd control and to assist customers.

Station announcements would be made regularly to update customers on the service status.

“Regular customers could also follow or directly message us on Facebook (@myrapid) and Twitter (@AskRapidKL or @MyRapidKL) for updates on the service status, said Zohari.
