KUALA LUMPUR, 28 January – After the restructuring of Cheras and Sg Besi routes, Rapid Bus – operator of Rapid KL bus services – will now launch the Damansara and Old Klang Road corridors as it continues its bold transformation initiatives, which are designed to further enhance bus services in the areas and woo in more people to take public transport.

Areas to benefit under the restructuring includes Damansara, Bandar Utama, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Pusat Bandar Damansara, Kompleks Kerajaan Jalan Duta, Bangsar, Pantai Dalam, and Pantai Hill Park under Damansara corridor; and Puchong, Klang Lama, Taman Desa, Petaling Jaya Selatan, and Subang Jaya for the Jalan Klang Lama Corridor.

There are sixteen (16) trunk bus routes, eight (8) feeder bus routes and one (1) Bus Express Transit (BET) service that are currently servicing the two corridors, Rapid Bus said in a statement issued here today.

“The launch of Damansara and Old Klang Road corridors which take effect on 2 February will see five (5) trunk bus routes being shorten to the nearest hub. Two (2) trunk routes and one (1) BET services will cease operations due to overlapping of services.” the statement said.

It added that alternatives routes will be provided to ensure travelling convenience for commuters; and that commuters can visit Rapid KL’s social media channels for details of the available routes via Facebook, twitter and the official website at www.myrapid.com.my.

“The exercise will improve service quality, cover more areas and stimulate higher patronage. “Two (2) feeder bus routes were realigned for wider coverage in Taman Kinrara and Puchong areas. In a bid to improve the overall commuter’s experience, the frequencies for trunk bus routes will be improved by bringing down the traveling time.

Bus timetables will be introduced at eighteen (18) bus routes and commuters can view them via Rapid KL’s Facebook album from 30 January ,” the statement added.
