The agreement was formalised at the 8th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference (IGEM 2017) between Prasarana’s President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Azmi Abdul Aziz and GreenTech Malaysia’s Group Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohd Azman Zainul Abidin.
The exchange of documents was witnessed by the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili at the official opening of IGEM 2017, which was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The collaboration will pave the way for GreenTech Malaysia and Prasarana to plan and work together in transforming the country’s public transport services in a sustainable manner.
This effort is also to align Prasarana’s Strategy and Operations to support the National Green Agenda of 45 percent reduction in carbon emission by year 2030. In line with Government Green Procurement (GGP) targets, 20% of Prasarana’s investment over the next five years will be dedicated to this green initiative, which is projected to be valued approximately RM3.5 billion.
Areas of collaboration between both parties include the development of Sustainable Blueprint for Prasarana, green procurement and sustainable supply chain, implementation of green initiatives as well as carbon emission measurement and verification.
In welcoming the collaboration, Dato’ Sri Azmi said Prasarana is looking forward to work closely with GreenTech Malaysia in positioning Prasarana as leading example of successful organization in green transformation in the country, promoting and augmenting the application of green technology in our business ecosystem and supply chain.
According to Dr Azman, “As we are moving towards green economy, this strategic partnership is very crucial since Prasarana, as the largest and leading public transport provider in Malaysia is playing a significant role in providing the public transport infrastructure and services to the rakyat”.
