RapidKL Extends LRT Service to Bukit Jalil on July 24, July 30
KUALA LUMPUR, Thursday, July 19, 2012 – Rangkaian Pengangkutan Integrasi Deras Sdn Bhd (RapidKL), a subsidiary of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana), will extend the working hours of its Ampang Line LRT service to Bukit Jalil on July 24, 2012 and July 30, 2012 to facilitate Malaysian football fans going to the National Stadium Bukit Jalil to root for the home team against visiting Arsenal and Manchester City.
The Gunners will try to outplay the local football heroes on July 24, while the English Premier League Champion ManCity will flash their high speed tactics against Malaysia on July 30 at the 90,000 capacity stadium.
In anticipation of a full house turnout for the two matches, RapidKL has decided to extend the LRT service to the Bukit Jalil Station until 12:15am or until the crowd is clear from the station, whichever is later, as part of efforts to reduce the number of cars coming to the area hence, easing the potential traffic congestion there.
With the extended service in place for these two dates, local football fans can park their cars at the Ampang Line LRT car park facilities provided at Cempaka, Pandan Indah, Pandan Jaya, Pudu, PWTC, Sentul, Sentul Timur, Salak Selatan and Sungai Besi stations and take the train to Bukit Jalil Station. After the game, they could take the LRT to return home from the Bukit Jalil Station and exit at the other stations along the Ampang Line. While these other stations are closed at normal hours, passengers can still exit from there during these two dates.
For convenience in traveling, the passengers are advised to use MyRapid Card, which can be purchased at all LRT and Monorail stations.
